Arena and Facilities Operator
The Town of Port Hawkesbury and the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre are accepting applications for an Arena and Facility Operator
As a member of our Team, the successful candidate will deliver exceptional customer service, enthusiasm, and the ability to represent the Town of Port Hawkesbury and the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre with professionalism and a community minded focus at all times, in a safe and welcoming manner.
The key duties and responsibilities are:
All aspects of Ice install and removal
Daily Ice maintenance, including operation of ice resurfacer, daily ice inspections and maintaining daily safety checks and log books.
Operate, maintain and monitor ice plant and building systems
General preventative maintenance and repairs
Facility event setup and tear down
Assist custodian staff as required
Cleaning and general maintenance
Snow clearing and grounds maintenance
Provide temporary support to other departments of the Town of Port Hawkesbury including Aquatics (water testing and balancing), Parks and Playgrounds, as required
Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Safe Work Practices and Procedures of the Town of Port Hawkesbury
The Qualifications are:
Have a minimum of High School completion or equivalent
Possess an understanding and knowledge of or have experience in ice arena operations, Ice resurfacer, ice plant and Facility Operations
Have the ability to work various shifts, evenings and weekends
Possess a valid driver’s license
Have the willingness to obtain a Certified Pool Operators Certificate
Be physically fit to perform required duties
Maintain a safe and organized work space while following safe work practices
Be able to provide an Approved vulnerable persons check and Criminal Records Check
While not a required qualification, any experience, knowledge or certification in any of the following would be considered an asset: Electrical, Instrumentation, HVAC, Plumbing, Aquatics and/or Certified Pool Operator, Playground Inspection Certification, Field Maintenance Certification, OH & S Act, First Aid, Building Operating Systems and/or related fields
This is a permanent seasonal position which will be administered around the demands of the arena ice season. Normal hours of work for this position are 35 per week. Salary to commensurate with qualifications and experience, pursuant to an approved salary grid.
