On April 1, 2015, Nova Scotia launched a new health system structure to create a foundation for better health and health care.
The nine previous district health authorities have come together as the Nova Scotia Health Authority, partnering with the IWK Health Centre to plan and deliver care for Nova Scotians.

Public Health Department
Serves individuals who need ongoing care, either on a long term or short term basis. Services include personal care, home support nursing, home oxygen concentrator services and family relief/ respite services in the home. People may refer themselves or may be referred by family, friends, doctors, or neighbours.
Mental Health Clinics
Doctors from St. Martha’s Regional Hospital psychiatry department regularly visit the Strait Richmond Hospital and St.Anne Centre in Arichat.
Oration Hearing Aide Centre Ltd. provides hearing Health care to all of Eastern Nova Scotia with offices in Sydney and Glace Bay. In Port Hawkesbury regular outreach programs are held on the third Thursday of every month. Complete hearing tests fully qualified specialists
